Max Knoop was born in Frankfurt am Main and is a cinematographer, director and photographer. After studying philosophy at Goethe University Frankfurt - which he did not complete in favor of film practice - he studied cinematography at filmArche Berlin and has been studying directing in a master class since 2024. For several years he worked at The School of Life Berlin in content development and production of video, image and text. His interest in literature and psychoanalysis is essential to his way of working. His work has taken him to South Africa, Canada, Brazil, France, England and Italy as well as the USA, Ukraine and Switzerland. He recently shot Carin Grudda - Zwischen den Welten (digital and 16 mm) and is working on his first feature-length film Traverse. He lives and works in Berlin.
